Keemala is a tropical oasis that is the perfect place to take a step back from the world and press your inner reset button. Set amongst the rainforest with the sounds of nature all around, within a few minutes of arriving at Reception and sipping on our welcome drinks in the lobby’s observation deck, the hustle and bustle of everyday life seems nothing but a distant memory.
After being whisked away by buggy to our Tent Pool Villa by our lovely villa host Toby, we were shown all of the villa’s luxurious amenities such as the indoor/outdoor showers, beautiful bathroom with granite bathtub, king size bed with luxurious mosquito net and our very own private pool. After our villa tour, it was time to sit back and witness one of the many unmistakable and magical Thai sunsets as we lounged by the private outdoor terrace.
Keemala also offers world class spa treatments at the award winning Mala Spa. All spa treatments are focused around fusing traditional and modern healing techniques for a signature experience. Mala Spa offers treatments such as traditional therapies, massages, facials, body wraps and scrubs. We were both in dire need of a massage and decided to go with the ‘hard’ deep tissue massage, paired with the signature Sai-Num blend of oils which included Moringa, Juniper Berry and Grapefruit for cleansing out impurities. Although we have had many spa treatments and massages in the past, it is without a doubt that our experience was indeed the best to date and it’s no wonder that Mala Spa has been awarded ‘WORLD LUXURY SPA WINNER 2019’. Words cannot describe how incredible our deep tissue massages were!
The resort also takes a holistic and healing approach to dining, with an organic farm to table menu at Mala Restaurant. A lot of the ingredients are grown onsite in the organic farm and hydroponic house, extra ingredients are sourced from local farmers in the region. From breakfast right through to lunch and dinner, all of the meals are to to die for. All made to order from the extensive menu offering up the most amazing traditional Thai, Indian, Western, vegetarian and of course vegan cuisine as well. Oh, and the dessert menu… we can’t forget about dessert. A must-try is the Rum Baba and the Keemala Garden – absolutely amazing!
Another important aspect of Keemala’s holistic approach, is fostering and caring for rescue animals from local farms. They have an adorable ‘Duck Cottage’ near the entrance to the resort, housing many rescued ducks and swans, enjoying their time by their very own lake – there is also a cute turkey! They have a couple of resident water buffalos and adorable goats housed near the hydroponic house and mushroom garden.
Given Keemala’s popularity and reputation for high-quality amenities and customer service, they usually have quite a high occupancy rate and while you may get a sense of lack of privacy and space at other resorts; Keemala’s vast and expansive grounds ensures you feel like you’re in your very own private oasis. Be it relaxing in your villa, taking a walk around the gardens, taking in the fresh air, or joining in on one of the daily resort experiences like yoga and guided meditation, you always feel as if you have the resort to yourself.
A stay at Keemala is such a unique and magical experience where you truly get to press that inner reset button and just be.
